Day Seven - The Old City and Western Wall - Nov.1 We went first to Mt. Zion and the Upper Room. We were fortunate to be the only ones there and we sang together. A sweet time of worship here. The Temple Institute was a real special experience. The displays and explanation of the Temple and the various items were very interesting. However no photos were allowed to be taken. The concluding statement was challenging. “This is the generation - The children are ready!” From here we walked to the Cardo, the ancient Roman Road that went through the city. It is now in the Jewish Quarter in the Old City. There were lots of shops in this area. Walking down we went to the Davidson Center and Architectural Park. This was on the south side of the Temple Mount. Eli took us to an area that was 20-25 ft. below the road. It was here that he discovered “The Golden Bell” from the High Priest’s robe told about in Exodus 28. You can read more about this at his site: www.elishukron.com. In this same area he found an ancient Roman sword. It is estimated that 18,000 workers were here building the temple and walls. No one has ever found a chisel. Eli has found the only one. We stopped at the Southern steps of the Temple Mount where Jesus would have walked to get into the Temple area. We read Ps. 122, one of David’s psalms of ascent. After snacks at the Davidson Center we finally arrived at the Kotel, the Western Wall and spent time praying. Many of us placed our written prayer requests into the joints between the stones in the wall. A precious time with the Lord. We then hiked through the Rabbi’s Tunnel which continued along the remaining western wall underground. Saint Anne’s Church and the Pool of Bethesda was our last stop of the day. Here we sang in this church with amazing acoustics. You’ve never heard “Spirit of the Living God” and “Hallelujah” sound so good. Back to the hotel and a special dinner tonight here in Jerusalem.
